The validity of your card is displayed on the card. The duration starts at the moment of activation. Example: a 2-hour prepaid cards has been activated at 3:13pm. The connection will expire at 5:15pm.
Q: I only have 2 bars signal strength. Is that enough?
A: Windows has its own way of showing signal quality. 2 bars often indicate a signal strength of 20dBm, which is more than enough to connect. Simply try your connection to see if you get the webpages on your screen.
Q: Does TurtleSpot shape, filter and/or limit traffic?
A: Yes, yes and no.
Traffic is shaped as follows: traffic from DSL lines and the WiFi network is analyzed and assigned a priority. High-priority traffic (skype, msn, email, websurfing) is sent over different internet uplinks than low-priority traffic (p2p, torrent). So while access to websites is fast, torrents may seem to be much slower; this low-priority traffic is sent over a seperate uplink together with all peer2peer traffic.
Traffic is not filtered, but is monitored automatically as required by the Thai Computer Crime Act.
Traffic is not limited. In case of low-priority traffic: if the available capacity is used 100%, it will take longer.
